Read About: Serengeti Safari in Tanzania Olakira Camp Sayari Camp What to expect from this 5 day Serengeti Safari Escape:This exciting fly-in Serengeti safari in Tanzania concentrates on the world-famous Serengeti, spending four nights split between two totally different areas, staying in two small, luxury, tented bush camps. Experience the most spectacular game viewing Tanzania has to offer during your Serengeti safari in Tanzania.
It is possible to take a beach ‘add-on’ to this itinerary and make it a longer safari and beach escape. Days 1 & 2: Seregenti National Park – Olakira CampYou will fly to the Serengeti National Park by light aircraft and on arrival at the airstrip; you will be met by your guide and drive to your camp.
Olakira Camp is a mobile tented camp that moves through the Serengeti during the year. Through the months of June to mid-December, Olakira Camp is located near to the Seronera area. This makes it a great base to see the migration when it is heading north in the months of June and July, and then when it is heading south in the months of November and December.
Between these months the resident game around Seronera is plentiful with good sightings of leopards, lions, cheetah and plains game. From mid-December to the end of March, Olakira is located in the Ndutu area, which is the perfect spot for witnessing the migration when it is spread out on the southern plains.
Olakira has six large spacious walk in tents. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom, with a chemical toilet and bucket shower – hot water is brought on request. The camp’s semi-permanent nature means that you really feel a part of the surrounding bush, but without having to sacrifice any of the usual comforts such as hot showers and toilets. In front of the tent is a shaded verandah, where you can sit and enjoy the views of the African bush.
Olakira offers 4x4 game drives escorted by an expert guide. Head out with your guide for a full day game viewing with a packed lunch - lunch in the bush, while enjoying an amazing view and delicious food and wine, is truly memorable. Or experience the morning and afternoon game safari, returning to the lodge to enjoy lunch and escape the heat of the day. Days 3 & 4: Seregenti National Park – Sayari Mara CampIn the morning, you will fly up to the very far north of the Serengeti close to the Mara River and Kenyan border. This remote location sees very few visitors and so offers a superb wilderness experience. The game here is good throughout the year and between the months of August and October the wildebeest gather in their thousands to cross the Mara River.
Sayari Mara is situated in the far north of the Serengeti, just south of the Mara River. This is an area of hills and rolling plains and where the permanent Mara River cuts through the land. A wide and shallow river that is home to many crocodiles and hippos, the Mara River hosts the dramatic wildebeest crossings of the great migration every year.
Sayari Camp is intimate and features only eight guest tents. The spacious tents are beautifully designed with traditional cloths and furniture and boast a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom. Every tent has its own private veranda equipped with comfortable chairs and couches, perfect for viewing the wide Serengeti landscape. The dining area, lounge area and campfire create a perfect bush setting. Sayari Camp has a talented chef who offers a great fusion of authentic African and nouvelle European cuisine.
The majestic landscape of the northern Serengeti is one of the best kept secrets of African safaris. Far from the tourist track, this area offers undisturbed exploration of the magnificent Serengeti National Park, with off-road driving still allowed in some parts. Rolling plains and riverine woodlands are home to lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, large herds of antelope and many other animals.
During your two night stay at Sayari you will experience morning and evening game drives as well as escorted walks in this pristine wilderness. Day 5: Flight to Arusha After a relaxing breakfast, you will take a few hours' game drive back across the Serengeti to the airstrip, for a flight back to Kilimanjaro Airport and onward arrangements.
