This Tanzania game lodge in Ngorongoro Crater is a 20 minute drive from the airstrip for domestic flights and a 35 minute flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Arusha is a 2 hour drive away.

Apart from being a game viewing haven, the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is a delight for ornithologists, photographers and nature lovers. The crater floor hosts a unique ecosystem with mostly open grassy plains, alternating fresh and brackish-water lakes, swamps and a few patches of acacia woodland.

The Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area are located in the northern highlands of Tanzania, bound by Lake Eyasi and the Gol Mountains. The crater floor which covers about 20km (12 miles) is 600 metres below the rim where Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge is located.

The crater is home to the last remaining Black Rhino in Tanzania and also has the highest concentration of predators. Within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, off the main road between Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, is Olduvai Gorge - one of Tanzania’s eight World Heritage Sites.

Nov-June is hot and humid. July-Oct is cool, especially at night.

The nearest town and regional centre is Karatu. Arusha is a 2 hour drive away. Guests can fly domestically to the local airstrip which is a 20 minute drive from the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge or fly on an international airline to Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA).
